Holiday Happy Hour at Coastal!

Tis the season...
or so they keep saying. I'm not quite sure what that means exactly. I think it means it's the season to get away with ANYTHING! Eating chocolate at 9 in the morning? Sure. Asking for a gift that's a stttrrrreeetch of the imagination(engagement ring)? ok, a girl can dream. Putting an oversized tree in your living room? No problem. Stuffing things into socks and then hanging them up? Seriously. Putting alcohol in everything from Egg Nog, cake, to Coffee?....YOU BET!!!

Coastal LOVES the "Season". We find that it's a great time to share with those we love (you) and give back what we can. So, this year, come join Coastal for our Holiday Happy Hours! During weekends in the month of December, we will be serving alcoholic (falalalala) and non-alcoholic versions of your favorites at our Alki store. Just drop by between 3pm-5pm on the 6th, 13th, or the 20th, and see what drink we are featuring. It's FREE, and to top it all off (as if you need any more reason than Bailey's) we will give you an extra 20% off of whatever item we feature for the day.

Drink, shop, and be Merry, in a very Coastal way!

Happy Holidays!

Lux Riot Party!

Once upon a time a group of friends decided to create a work space that would make magic. Magic is not an easy commodity to create, but these friends were driven. They were tired of the over produced, over used, and under paid trend that companies were following when it came to prodcution. They wanted to give their friends and the community around them something tangible that mattered. They wanted to give small companies and like mided individuals the ability to get there message out amongst the masses. They wanted, as it turned out, to screen t-shirts.

I'm not kidding. That's pretty much the story of Luxe Riot. With adjectives like
"magic" thrown in there to rouse the senses, but it's non-fiction. Luxe Riot is nestled in Wallignford right up the hill from Gas Works park. They run their business out of an old warehouse, that is in place for YOU to come utilize. We have been getting Coastal threads printed here for years, and have always found them to be WONDERFUL to work with.

They are throwing an open-house/party on December 6 and 7th. Other retailers and local companies will have some sweet deals too. So, go check it out, you will NOT be disappointed. Unless you hate magic.

Scarfs, Hats, Mittens...Oh My!!!

There are few thing as annoying as being unprepared for a frigid Seattle morning. Freezing ears, fingers that won't thaw out, that pesky wind blowing down the back of your shirt, and numbing your poor chin. It's the pits. So, why not give the ol' 1, 2, punch to winter cold and bundle up in our assortment of incredible scarves, hats, and mittens, from Coal Headwear? Coal, based out of Seattle since 2002, understands the woes of Winter bound Seattleites. They are committed to offering up the best quality, inarguably softest, assortment every year, and I just fall back in love with them. Cold weather beware....you've met your match. Right here in the Emerald City.

We still have suits!

As Seattle-Fall appropriate the current drizzly weather is, I can't help but imagine a holiday in the sun. I mean quite literally, spending my Holidays in the sun. Surfing Santa, a sandy palm tree with lights strung around, a bikini, and 12 days of surfing. No sugar plums, no reindeer, no partridges in pear trees. Just a grand dose of sun and sea water.

Sadly, this isn't how I will be spending my Holidays, but one can dream....right? If YOU are one of the lucky ones finding yourself grasping a boarding pass to south of the border, and getting out of Dodge for the Holidays, then we are here to help! Coastal carries suits, flip flops, boardshorts(for guys, too) YEAR ROUND. Of course, we still carry our fantastic assortment of Fall looks, coats, scarves, dresses, etc., but don't look us over when in need of that Holiday outfit of all outfits: your bathing suit. So, if the thought of pulling your ratty old suit on sends shivers down your spine, don't panic! Get into Coastal! We'll get you all "suited" up!

Here are some newbies we just got in....(yes, we are still getting NEW styles in!)

Throw a PARTY!

Why not? I swear my blood sugar levels have just barely leveled out after the influx of Halloween ladened celebration, but I'm ready for the next bout! Let us not forget that a SLEW of Holidays are just around the corner. What better way to get in the mood for shindiggin' than a new frock?!? Let's be honest, that little girl that gets excited on ruffly skirts, taffeta, and skirts that swirl when you spin in them, is in there SOMEWHERE. Sure, you may have traded your side ponytail in for a more sophisticated up-do, your mary janes for some Manolo's, and your taffeta for some crepe. Wise move, sister. But here are some dresses we still think you'll love...at any age.

Meet Me in the Mountains!!!

OK!!!

I can't wait to get out there. But until the fluffy white stuff starts falling, we have to make do with the omni-present video premiers. That being said, here is another one you should definately check out.

I have seen what these guys have put out in the past, and they are always awesome. I was a Robot Food feign when they were doing their stuff, so watching Airblaster duders boosting feels like home. Here are the teasers. See you there!

Nikita, Oh how I love thee.

It has been an ongoing love affair. Face it. Heightened only by the fact that I get to see you 5 days a week. You sponsor amazing events (check out the Nikita Chickita Showdown), you have the best style, you've been from Iceland from the get go, and you make the cutest clothes. Yes. Clothes. What did you think I was talking about? Sheesh.

Anyways, it's no small wonder I'm gaga for Nikita. They continually keep a tight, well developed line, that always harps back to their original mantra "For Girls Who Ride". Skate and snow inspired pieces that are adorable, functional, and best yet, at your closest Coastal. Here are some new pieces...enjoy.

Billabong Gift with Purchase

Who doesn't love free stuff? OK, there can be some pretty bogus 'FREE' stuff out there. So, who doesn't love COOL, free stuff? I thought so. Well, Billabong's got you covered.

For every Billabong purchase over $50, you score a free, reuseable shopping tote. How great is that?!

Reduce, reuse, re-Coastal.

Travis Rice's "That's It, That's All" premier in Seattle!!!

So, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that if you are involved in the snowboard world in any capacity, you probably heard of "The Community Project." If not, then let me back up for a second. "Community Project" was a project involving hard hitting pro's like Travis Rice, JJ Thomas, Zach Leach, Tyler Lepore, the man himself: Terje Haakonsen, Shaun White, Eero Ettala, etc. Anyways, it was amazing. It was a film that brought all of these guys (unfortunately it was a dude fest, and no women were featured) to come out and film together, regardless of your sponsors, your team, or any of the politics that follows professional snowboarding. So, long story short, it was ground breaking. Well, that was 2 years ago. We hadn't heard anything from Travis Rice until NOW. Quiksilver and Red Bull are sponsoring the new flm: "That's It, That's All."

Although the film won't be released for a month or so, there will be a Seattle premier at the King Cat Theater. Here's the skinny:

SEATTLE SATURDAY OCT. 11th
8pm , doors at 7pm
King Cat Theater
2130 6th Ave. downtown Seattle
Tickets $10 available NOW
at SnoCon, Evo, Quiksilver Store and
www.brownpapertickets.com

I HIGHLY suggest attending this event!!! Even if watching pro shreds throw down ISN'T your thing, I guarantee the movie (or the bar, what what!) will keep you entertained. There is ALWAYS an after party, and it's ALWAYS a good time.

So, come out, watch some shredding, slap some high fives, and start the stoke for the winter to come!!

In the mean time, here's a teaser:

See ya out there!

New Volcom Accesories!!!

Hello, Hello! I hope you had a wonderful (albeit windy and quintesentially Seattle) weekend! Over here at Coastal, we just got in a slew of super cute, super affordable (!!!) handbags and accesories from Volcom. Here's the line-up:

The first is the Volcom Grandstand Bag, $42 (told you they were inexpensive).
Photobucket
This is the Stealth Handbag is black. For $36, you get an awesome PU handbag with a diagonally striped wht/blk, satin lining. What I love about this bag is how you can wear the strap tucked in as a clutch, tucked in and coming out of one side as a wristlet, or worn normally. Also, I L.O.V.E. the covered pyramid studs that are barely noticeable. They make it punky-chic.

Here are the Tucker Totes, $54:

We have them in Grey and in Black. You'll be surprised how much they hold!

The Busy Bee Hobo bag, $44, is an awesome Fall bag.
Photobucket

OK, I unpacked this bag , and instantly fell in love. This is the Chorus Girl handbag, $38. This uber sweet bag has a built in change purse that is connected to the inside of the bag. I don't fully understand the "Chorus Girl" part of the name, but it definately has a 1930's styling about it.
Photobucket

This is the big Stealth tote bag. For $48, you get this lipstick red wonder. It has the same details the Stealth handbag has. The same satin, striped liner, the same inconspicuous pyramid studs, and the same shiny PU, but it's BIG!!
Photobucket

For all you Vcological lovers, this is the Birdie totebag. It's made of recycled material, and makes a great solution to "paper or plastic?".

Volcom also has super cute bangles this Fall:

$24 for a set of 10. Mix 'em, match 'em, share 'em.

This scarf confused me at first, but I was just scared of it's amazing possibilities:

The Button Down scarf, $32, is super versatile. It can be worm as a hood, or doubled over as a scarf. With the loop shape, you'll never be feeling around for the other end of your scarf while the wind is a blowin'!

So, there ya have it! Get in here and try these beauties on!!!
See you soon!

Totally in your Element!

No side slipping on a snowboard to icy destruction. No barreling down the hill on a borrowed, over-sized down hill mountain bike. No paddling out into the line up on the North Shore. No tight rope unicycle antics. No alligator wrestling...I promise. This is an Element you can totally get into!!

Element skateboards have been making clothing for some time; and with it's ever growing Eden project gaining momentum, I thought this would be a perfect time to show some pieces we just received. In case you're just hearing of Element for the first time, check out their site: http://www.elementeden.com/. It's a wonderful company thats based on being kind to the environment, ourselves, and others. Without a "lets sit around the fire holding hands and sing Coom Baa Ya" feel. Anyways, I'll stop writing. Here are the clothes. That's what you came for anyways, right? Thought so.

In addition to the amazing sportswear, Element also dishes out the cutest accesories...

This is just a random sampling. Stop by either of the stores to check it out, try it on, and get in your Element....no helmet required.
